I can’t even color in the lines, how can I teach art? I can’t carry a tune, even if it had handles…how will my kid learn to play the piano? What about upper level math? Math was never my strength!
When you and your family made the decision to homeschool, you may have thought you could be missing out on extracurriculars or those resource classes offered in public school. I believe we as parents feel we have the basics covered, but sometimes draw a blank when it comes to…we’ll just call them “other” classes.
Class is in Session With Excellent Options
I believe we all want the most robust education we can give our kids, and we know that includes some skills that we just don’t have. This is where outsourcing to others can be a great help. I’m almost certain we are all familiar with co-ops and how our kids can learn different subjects throughout the week while being taught by other homeschool parents. This is great when you are skilled in science and can teach that while someone else teaches your kids history.
Did you know there are also tons of different options for learning and exploring other subjects! Have you considered virtual learning? In this setting, your kids could get to be in a class with students from all over who share the same interests or passions and be taught by an expert in the field. These classes could be live streamed or recorded so they can be viewed multiple times.
You should check out some course platforms online and see which classes or topics spark your interest. Classes can range from a few minutes to hours of content on any given subject matter. There are some that come with home kits, such as art or science, where creations can be made in the home! Doesn’t that sound fun…and also a little frightening? But all in the name of education!
