Freedom in Faith

Thursday, Friday, & Saturday

June 6, 7, & 8

Freedom in Faith

This year’s program explores the freedom we have through Christ. During our skits, we will travel to Prison Terra where we’ll join several Christians who live inside as they discover what it means to be free through faith in Christ while still being bound by the laws of this earth.

During the program, children will memorize Bible verses, learn praise and worship songs, complete themed crafts, and have the chance to release their energy through active, exciting games!

The Children’s Program is offered to attendees of the convention and is open all day Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, concurrently with most convention workshops. Children are the ages of 5 to 12.

Parents will drop off children before workshops begin. They must pick up their children over the lunch break each day and pick them up promptly after the last workshop.

Note: Children’s Program cannot escort children to or from from add-on workshops.

Children’s Program FAQ

We enlist the help of many volunteers and team leaders to engage the children with fun, enjoyable group activities. Each child is assigned to a team leader and one or two assistants who together are responsible for teams of up to 21 children who will remain together throughout their stay in the Children’s Program. They will at times join other teams for fast-paced transitions to organized games, singing, and crafts.

Yes! Many of our volunteers come back year after year to serve in the Children’s Program! All of our volunteers provide a reference that is carefully reviewed, and any volunteers aged 18 and over undergo a background check.

Yes, all children in a family are placed on the same team at the convention unless the parents specifically request that they be placed on separate teams. Please send placement requests to childrensprogram@heav.org by May 24, 2024.

We make every effort to accommodate special placement requests. Please send requests to childrensprogram@heav.org by May 24, 2024.

Only parents are permitted to drop off and pick up children. If you and your spouse have a scheduling conflict due to another convention event, special arrangements may be made for another authorized adult to pick up your child. Arrangements must be made onsite with the Children’s Program coordinator. Under no circumstances will a minor be permitted to pick up children from the program.

No food is served or allowed in the Children’s Program; this includes candy and any drinks other than water. If your child needs to eat during program hours, you must sign him out from the program room as needed to get food. Note: Each time you sign your child out of the Children’s Program, you must sign him back in when you return.

Please mention any allergies on the child’s information sheet. If your child has a severe allergy, please make arrangements for his care in writing with the Children’s Program coordinator.

We welcome all children! Unfortunately, we do not have the volunteer staff to care for a child who requires personal care, and our staff members are prohibited from entering the bathroom with any child. If possible, a nurse will be available in the Children’s Program at all times and a paramedic is available at the Convention Center. If you have a child with special needs or health concerns, please e-mail childrensprogram@heav.org,  to discuss whether or not we can accommodate your child.

Convention Sponsors

Many, many thanks to our convention sponsors!

They have invested heavily in homeschool families—in YOU—to help keep our convention prices as low as possible and support homeschooling in Virginia. Please join us in thanking them for their generosity!
