HEAV was contacted by a distraught parent who was incorrectly advised that she could not home educate because she had a GED. This information reportedly came from their elementary school personnel. The law provides options for parents who do not have a high school diploma.

Once HEAV directed the parent to the homeschool law, she contacted with the correct person–a trained, homeschool liaison at the district office–and confidently filed her Notice of Intent.
