We didn’t plan to homeschool… and when we started, I never thought we would still be homeschooling now, years later, with kids in high school and middle school. But I know I couldn’t have done it without the support and encouragement of the Home Educators Association of Virginia. They have kept me going, year after year, and encouraged me on my toughest days. I am so grateful because this time with my children, seeing them grow and learn, has been worth every moment, even the hard ones.

Homeschool freedom.

Did you know your prayers and partnership are vital to supporting homeschool families and protecting homeschoolers’ rights. HEAV is dedicated to working hard for you and your family. It is a blessing to come alongside parents across the Commonwealth and support their homeschooling endeavors–and we are so grateful for you.

Still, we face growing challenges and need your financial support to

  • Advocate for homeschooling rights in Virginia
  • Equip and empower parents
  • Provide resources and support to homeschooling families
  • Organize educational events and workshops
  • Connect homeschooling communities

Do you cherish your Virginia homeschool freedoms?

Here’s a chance to make a difference

on #GivingTuesday.

What is #GivingTuesday?

#GivingTuesday is a global day of generosity, an opportunity for people like you and me to make a difference in our communities. Since 2012, it has been held annually on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving to celebrate the selflessness inherent in the season.

#HomeschoolStrong. #GivingTuesday.

Thanksgiving. Black Friday. Cyber Monday. #GivingTuesday!

Thanks to you…

  • When you and other parents call our office with a question or concern, phone counselors are on hand to answer and provide assistance. In our active Facebook group, now with more than 24,090 members, consultants respond with helpful and accurate information to the many questions posted every day.
  • When a school board or superintendent imposes restrictions or asks for information not required by law, it can impact ALL homeschool families. Your gift helps HEAV take action and follow up on behalf of these families to protect our homeschool rights.
  • When the General Assembly convenes in Richmond, HEAV’s government affairs team researches the proposed legislation to evaluate its impact on Virginia’s homeschool law. And then, we alert you to any action you need to take. Our homeschool freedoms were hard-won. With your help, we can preserve those freedoms for generations to come.
  • And on days when a mom like the one above shares she is struggling, she can turn to HEAV and its members for support and encouragement. Your gift helps our organization cultivate much-needed community and connection among homeschool families through local support groups and co-ops, Homeschool Days, field trips, and Facebook groups.

How do I donate?

You can give a gift to HEAV quickly and easily online, mail a check, or call the HEAV office to donate over the phone!

Join us on this #GivingTuesday and help support your homeschool freedom for generations to come.

We are so blessed to live in the state of Virginia and have HEAV! Many times, I actually welled up with tears…thinking of how we are reaping the rewards of DECADES of labor on the part of many dedicated parents. There is far more going on behind the scenes than we ever realize. HEAV is a TREMENDOUS blessing, and we do not take it for granted.
