Notice of Intent Recipient

Q. When filing a Notice of Intent, should I send it to the superintendent’s office or to the person listed on the school division’s website? They are two different people. A. The Virginia homeschool statue requires parents to “notify the division superintendent” of their intention to homeschool their child. Because of the number of homeschoolers, some superintendents have delegated the responsibility to an assistant who may even have a different address. If this is clearly the person who works with homeschool families, sending it to them would be fine. However, if you send it to the superintendent as the law states, his office would forward it to the appropriate person.
