Homeschool Start Date

Q. Must I begin my homeschool on the same day the public schools begin?

A. You may begin your school year when you are ready and set the schedule that works best for you and your family. Some homeschoolers teach year-round; others use a block schedule; and others use a private or a public school schedule. You may find you are able to accomplish more each day in less time than traditional schools because of one-on-one tutoring.

Although the law refers to “the same period of each year..for the same number of days and hours per day…”, the law has no reporting mechanism in place for homeschoolers to report days or hours.
