Athletics Outreach Coordinator
Do you love homeschool sports? HEAV is looking for an organized, self-motivated volunteer to connect Virginia homeschool families with athletic opportunities across the state.

Purpose of position:
- Help answer inquiries and connect Virginia homeschool families to homeschool athletic programs around the state. These inquiries may come in via phone calls or emails to the HEAV office or through the HEAV Facebook page.
- Keep an up-to-date database of homeschool athletic programs in the state.
- To coordinate HEAV’s outreach to coaches and players of homeschool athletic leagues in Virginia in an effort to give them more visibility, support, and recognition
Athletics Outreach Coordinator reports to:
- Director of Leadership Support
Relates closely with:
- Director of Leadership Support
Office Manager - Director of Outreach
Required skills, strengths, and abilities:

- Initiative and the ability to accomplish projects with minimal supervision

Hours required: three to five hours per week, depending on project needs and season
The Athletics Outreach Coordinator named above will work with the Director of Leadership Support. He or she will build and lead a team to implement the various tasks needed to accurately and efficiently receive and relay information to publications for the website. The team will share HEAV’s vision, mission, and values so they can work together effectively to meet the high standards of HEAV.
The Athletics Outreach Coordinator will attend regularly scheduled team meetings and complete the Ministry Institute’s video training. He or she will model a culture of discipleship by training and mentoring team members and instituting the core values of HEAV.
The Athletics Outreach Coordinator is responsible for the following:
- League spotlights
Obtaining information to list athletic leagues in Virginia on the HEAV website - Homeschool Sports Information
answer homeschooler’s questions on sports in Virginia, including available leagues, NCAA or NAIA recruiting, college sports - Team spotlights/game results
Encourage leagues to relay game results and outstanding athletes (with possible pictures) to Publications
Goals and Ideas (not limited to) for Athletics Outreach Coordinator position.
- Write an annual column in the HEAV magazine to promote and bring an awareness to the area of homeschool sports.
- Improve the web presence beyond just a list. Have a welcome page encouraging families that just because they homeschool doesn’t mean sports options aren’t available for them.
- Build a relationship with the NCAA homeschool representative.
- Host an NCAA seminar at the convention.
- Have a sports related workshop at the convention with suggested topics like, “The Benefits of Homeschool Sports”, “Yes, You Can Still Homeschool and Play Sports”, and “How to Start Your Own Homeschool Sports Organization.”
