Adamson, Jonah Daniel
Ruther Glen, Virginia
I am from Ruther Glen, Virginia. I am the third oldest (and eldest brother) of 11 siblings. I was born in Indiana, lived in South Dakota, and have been homeschooled all my life. I enjoy art, painting, woodworking, making sword replicas from The Lord of the Rings and other films, digital art, photography, computer games, music, movies, and books. I’ve had the opportunity to play parts in several musicals with Alpha Theatre and to travel to Ukraine to help with our family’s adoptions. I like spending time with family and friends, and I am interested in pursuing art and cybersecurity in the future. Joshua 1:9 is a favorite Bible verse of mine.
Virginia Beach, Virginia
My parents began homeschooling my four older siblings when I was 2 years old, and now—15 years later—that journey is coming to a close as I graduate. Throughout my education, I attended Young Musicians of Virginia, taking violin and piano lessons and participating in strings, band, and choir. One of the coolest opportunities homeschooling provided was being a full-time nanny last fall. I’m incredibly grateful for the love and dedication my parents and teachers have poured into me over the years, and I look forward to spending a gap year at Torchbearers Bible School in Colorado beginning this fall.
Anderson, Savannah Grace
My homeschool journey began in sixth grade and continued through twelfth grade. During that time, I had many opportunities for my education to be enriched through creativity and volunteer ministries. I served as a volunteer with the Thurman Brisben Center, taught dance to preschool children, and volunteered with the Fredericksburg SPCA. My hobbies include drama, musical dance theater, classical ballet, and singing in a Christian vocal group. My next step in life includes earning a veterinary technician degree in order to fulfill my dream of working at a zoo or with an exotic animal vet.
Arnold, Rachel Renee
I’ve been homeschooled my whole life, and I honestly wouldn’t change a thing about it. Being in a family of eight kids is crazy enough, but deciding to homeschool all of them is just crazy—but my mother was (and is) able to do it! It took me forever to decide what I wanted to do with my life after high school, and to be honest, some things are still in the air. I’m currently working at Starbucks, but I’m hoping to be moving out of my parents’ house and getting a place of my own, and after that I plan on becoming a police officer. Being homeschooled was one the best things that ever happened to me, and I wouldn’t change a thing.
I have been homeschooled since the sixth grade and started dual enrollment with Germanna Community College my senior year. My plan is to transfer to Liberty University and further my schooling in cybersecurity or criminal justice. My goal is to work for the U.S. government and serve the greatest country in the world. I volunteer at my local fire department and enjoy helping my community. You can catch me in a tree stand during deer season, or fishing during the spring and summer, or traveling around our beautiful country in my free time. My favorite Bible verse is Luke 1:37 (KJV).
Aviles, Emma Joe
I am excited to be graduating with the class of 2021. I went to public school from pre-K through tenth grade and made the choice to homeschool my junior and senior years. I have attended dual-enrollment classes through SVCC (Southside Virginia Community College) and will receive my associate degree on an accelerated path. I am a purple belt in kenpo karate, and I love reading, writing, drawing, video games, and marine life—especially manatees. My goal is to become a marine biologist who specializes in saving endangered species. A favorite quotation of mine is from Michel de Montaigne, “He who fears he will suffer already suffers because he fears.”
Bannister, Niamh Caoilin
Ruther Glen, Virginia
I began homeschooling in seventh grade and took up an accelerated study plan so I would graduate early. I enrolled in Germanna Community College during my final year and will transfer to Virginia Commonwealth University to study psychology. After completing my bachelor’s degree, I intend to continue my education at the College of William and Mary to earn a master’s degree in psychology. A favorite quotation of mine is from Dr. Asa Don Brown, “All children should be taught to unconditionally accept, approve, admire, appreciate, forgive, trust, and ultimately, love their own person.”

Kendall plans to continue her education in the arts, focusing on photography, videography, and graphic design.
Bohannon, Levi John Clark
I have been homeschooled all my life. During my junior and senior years of high school, I took dual-enrollment classes at Southside Virginia Community College. Living on Buggs Island Lake, I enjoy fishing, water sports, and time on the water with friends and family. After graduating I plan to enroll in Army ROTC to further my education and serve my country.
Botts, Morgan Graham
I have been homeschooled since the first grade and have lived all throughout the United States. Being a military kid, I have been homeschooled in North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, Florida, Montana, California, and Virginia. I am currently halfway finished with my Associate of Arts in General Studies at Southeastern University, and I am ready to go wherever God leads me next.

I have been homeschooled since my freshman year. I attended the Kingdom Education for Young Scholars (KEYS) co-op my senior year. I enjoy drawing, wood-burning, and playing soccer. Throughout my high school years, I played soccer with various leagues. I plan to attend Tidewater Community College in the fall, then transfer to a university, where I will pursue a degree in software engineering. I want to thank my loving family for being so supportive while providing me a great education and giving me the building blocks for my future.
My homeschool journey began in third grade, when I attended a school where half of the school week was completed at home. I realized then that homeschooling worked best for me, so since fourth grade, that’s what we’ve done. I participated in local activities, including homeschool co-ops, FAYM (Fredericksburg Area Young Musicians), and Civil Air Patrol. Even though I grew through many extracurricular activities, I found my true passion in creating stories and writing music. I plan to become an independent filmmaker and tell the stories that God inspires me to tell.
Burr, Kylie Faith
I have been homeschooled since kindergarten. I enjoy dance, music, reading, sewing, and art. Second, “Everything happens for a reason,” and even in the worst of times, God can use you to show His glory. Being homeschooled has allowed me the opportunity to pursue avenues that included all the things I am passionate about. That list includes CPR, computer and sign language classes, all-star cheerleading, and becoming a head cheer coach for a recreational athletic association. My upbringing furnished me with unlimited field trips and travel to explore agriculture, natural resources, history, technology, and the arts through hands-on experiences and a hands-on way of learning. My hobbies include hip hop dancing, baking, traveling, and shopping, and I aspire to become an orthodontist. I have a special place in my heart to see people smile with confidence, and I love how those smiles reflect a person’s overall happiness. My parents, teachers, instructors, and teammates have all helped me become—and have shaped me into—a relevant, reliable, respectful individual who will be a success that they all can be immensely proud of.

Jones, Paige Marie
Hi! I’ve been homeschooled for nine amazing years. I have a profound love for my family, pasta, books, and Jesus. I’ve spent the last four years traveling, flying airplanes, speaking in Congressional Hall for women’s rights, volunteering in various organizations, and doing way too many other things to list here. This has sparked my love of serving others. I’ve been accepted to, and will be attending, Lancaster Bible College this fall to pursue a career in social work while double majoring in theology. My life verse is Luke 1:45.
Jones, Stuart Michael
Stephens City, Virginia
I’ve been homeschooled by my parents my whole life, which is to be expected when your father is an attorney for HSLDA. My favorite subject in school is math, although it’s also the source of most of my frustration. I’m very interested in games and gaming. I love video games, particularly roguelike and role-playing games. I like playing board games as well. I’ve served as dungeon master for several Dungeons & Dragons campaigns for family, friends, online groups, and at my co-op. After high school, I’m going to college for math statistics or, more likely, video game design.
Jones, Tyler Michael
I’ve been homeschooled since eighth grade. Through my high school years, I played two years of football, one during ninth grade with Hampton Roads Generals and the other during tenth grade with Beach Breakers as a tight end. My junior year I played basketball with Suffolk Christian Academy as a starting center. My senior year I chose to focus on my studies and took a part-time job at Auto Bell. I enjoy nature and video games. I am not sure of God’s plan for my future yet, but I know He will lead me.
Kailey, Hannah Ruth
I have been homeschooled my entire life. I was born in Fairfax, Virginia, which is outside of Washington, DC, but I currently reside in Waynesboro. My interests include reading, drawing, gaming, and, occasionally, writing. I help with the audio/visual team at my church, where I run the livestream. After I graduate, I plan on taking a gap year. I’d like to get my driver’s license, find a job, and, hopefully, buy a car. After my gap year, I am thinking about going to college to earn a bachelor’s degree in art.
Keplinger, Makayla Faith
I have been homeschooled all my life, and I am excited to be here graduating. For job training, I will be attending a vocational school in Fishersville, Virginia. I hope to then get a job working in a restaurant and then perhaps go to college one day. I want to thank my mom, my dad, and my brothers and sisters for helping me get to this point in my life. I am excited to see the kind of future God has planned for me.

My interests include horseback riding, archery, dancing, and all things related to animals. I have been volunteering at animal hospitals for about a year now and intend to continue this interest into college. After graduation, I plan to pursue a degree in veterinary medicine. A favorite quotation is from Nelson Mandela, “The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”

I have been homeschooled my entire life, along with my three siblings. I enjoy spending time with friends and family, working as a manager at Chick-fil-A, helping in my church’s children’s programs, watching movies, listening to music, and playing volleyball. I have played volleyball for the last four years and am signed to play volleyball in college at Mount Vernon Nazarene University on an athletic and academic scholarship! I will be majoring in pre-veterinary medicine. My life verses are Proverbs 3:5-6; through these verses the Lord has given me a new perspective on my life and the trials I face.
