When Does Homeschooling End?

An impending law in Alberta, Canada would require all educators–even homeschoolers–to adopt instructional materials that toe the government line on diversity. A proponent of the law states that parents may “affirm the family’s ideology” in their family life, but must keep such teaching out of academic studies. But since religious beliefs or philosophy are often the very reason families choose to homeschool, opponents of the law say this is an unprecedented move by the government to define the values parents choose to promote in their own home. Thus, the new law could place the complete control of what parents may and may not teach their children in the government’s hands. Read the article.

Some LEGO-lovers in Germany built a space shuttle from a standard LEGO Shuttle kit and launched it with a helium balloon. It made it 35,000 meters high with a video running and GPS documenting it! The moms and kids who watched the video were thrilled! We hope you enjoy it with your junior builders.
