Based on the same material presented in the best-selling Do Hard Things by Alex and Brett Harris, this one-day conference for the whole family will help you see the vision, set goals, and make the most of the time you have to enjoy your family.

Do you know how to start a conversation? Do you love to be the first to know about a good thing? Are you looking for an opportunity to serve fellow homeschoolers from home? Join the publications team and help convey HEAV’s message to homeschooling families, the community, and the media through our print and online outlets!

HEAV is looking for an outgoing, detail-oriented person to assist with our community outreach and marketing efforts. Marketing or publicity experience is helpful. Some familiarity with social media and the ability to write with ease–as well as a love of HEAV’s mission–are essential.

Some responsibilities include the following:·

  • Collaborate in the development of the 2015 marketing plan and assist the publications director to ensure it is carried out
  • Write marketing e-mails to support group leaders, Outreach Partners, vendors, and others to publicize upcoming events
  • Write press releases and public-service announcements and ensure that they are distributed
  • Update and maintain up-to-date contact lists for our media outlets
  • Manage a team of motivated volunteers to work in each area of outreach
  • Contact radio and TV stations to initiate and coordinate interviews

Nearly all the work can be done from home. The hours will vary and are flexible, and a small stipend is provided.

Interested or know someone who is interested?

Article of the Week

That They May Put Their Hope in God– Jeff Myers, Ph.D.

Dr. Myers, a past speaker at the annual HEAV Convention, proposes the five great questions all of us must deal with in life. He then encourages homeschooling parents to not only teach the answers from the Bible, but to live it out in front of them–consistently. Have you answered these short questions for yourself?

4) Parting Thought – Partners

William Cowper (pronounced “Cooper,” by the way), was John Newton’s friend and hymn writer, producing at least one new hymn to accompany each Sunday’s sermon.

Cowper suffered bouts of depression, out of which he produced some of his best remembered work. One example is “There is a Fountain Filled with Blood.”

There is a fountain filled with blood drawn from Emmanuel’s veins;
And sinners plunged beneath that flood lose all their guilty stains.
Lose all their guilty stains, lose all their guilty stains;
And sinners plunged beneath that flood lose all their guilty stains.

Read the rest of the hymn here.

5) Worth Repeating  John Bunyan

“You have chosen the roughest road, but it leads straight to the hill-tops.”

– John Bunyan (1628-1688), preacher, and author. Read about his conversion to Christ (also recounted in Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners) at the linked page. He preached according to his conscience–without a license from the Anglican Church–and was imprisoned for 12 years, where it is believed he wrote most of The Pilgrim’s Progress, probably the best-selling Christian book, aside from the Bible itself. Read more about him and see all of his written work in “The Chapel Library.” His work is available there as free PDFs to download or read online.

Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
