Special-Events Planner

Would you like fulfilling, creative work that affects the lives of homeschooling families in positive, God-honoring ways? Do you love to revel in the details of putting together a special event? Are you looking for a way to serve part-time from home? Then join the HEAV Special-Events Team and help plan a variety of events–from small seminars to large conferences and retreats.

HEAV is seeking an experienced, take-charge planner who has the ability to manage administrative and logistical details in a service-oriented, budget-conscious environment. A love of event planning–and the people being served–along with the ability to anticipate project needs, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines with little supervision, is necessary. Responsibilities include coordinating approximately 4 to 10 events per year, ranging in size from 20 to 1000 participants. A small stipend is offered.

Marketing Coordinator

Do you love letting people know about a good thing? Do you have a heart for HEAV’s mission, and are you excited to articulate it in a way the public can hear?

We are looking for someone familiar with marketing to help generate media interest in upcoming conferences, the convention, and other HEAV events. Marketing or publicity experience would be extremely helpful; careful attention to detail, coupled with the ability to juggle many tasks, are essential skills. Almost all the work can be done from home. The hours are flexible and will vary, with more work during the convention months and less during the summer. A small stipend is offered.

For more information on these opportunities, see “Available Positions.”

4) Parting Thought – Before You Speak

You may have seen or heard this before, but it’s such a great reminder, it might be nice to have in print to post on the home bulletin board.

Before you speak—T H I N K

T–Is it True?

H–Is it Helpful?

I—Is it Inspiring?

N–Is it Necessary?

K–Is it Kind?

5) Worth Repeating  Elisabeth Elliot

“Everything about which we are tempted to complain may be the very instrument whereby the Potter intends to shape His clay into the image of His Son–a headache, an insult, a long line at the check-out, someone’s rudeness or failure to say thank you, misunderstanding, disappointment, interruption…Wouldn’t our children learn godliness if they saw the example of contentment instead of complaint? acceptance instead of rebellion? peace instead of frustration?”
– Elisabeth
Elliot, (1926-present) missionary, author, and public speaker.

6) Verse of the Week

O sing unto the LORD a new song: sing unto the LORD, all the earth. Sing unto the LORD, bless his name; shew forth his salvation from day to day.
