Volunteers Needed
Each year it takes more than 600 volunteers to make the convention run smoothly and keep everything on schedule. You can help, too! Our Volunteer Application makes it easy to choose the area and time you’d like to serve. Volunteers who work two hours during the convention get to shop early in the UCS–BEFORE the general public!

Children’s Program

Play a Game. Share a Craft. Change a LIFE.

Do have a heart to serve? The Children’s Program is a huge blessing to families with young children-and the time you spend with a child can change his life. Adults are needed, but there are also opportunities for teens who are looking for service-hour requirements-in addition to enjoying a couple of high-energy days of fun and fellowship! Apply here.

Special Buddies Program

Do you have experience with–or maybe just a heart for–children with special needs? For the first time, HEAV is offering a Special Buddies program, and we are looking for volunteers to serve in this very special children’s ministry. A heart for special-needs children is a must, and experience is extremely helpful. Interested? Apply here.

Special Buddies will run concurrently with the Children’s Program and includes a Bible-based curriculum with music, crafts, and videos. Because of the low staff-to-student ratios, there will be a limited number of spaces, which are available on a case-by-case basis. More information will be coming soon! If you’d like to be notified when applications are being accepted, please e-mail specialbuddies@heav.org.

Lee Binz’s  downloadable PDF e-book contains a discount code for 20% off her book College Admission and Scholarships. Learn to find a college you can love!

Marketing & Publicity Coordinator

Do you love letting people know about a good thing? HEAV needs someone to help develop a team and implement and augment the current convention marketing and publicity plan. Article of the Week
When You Feel Like Quitting…Which Was When We Were Asked to Leave

– Amy Hatfield

Post-Christmas slumps are not uncommon for homeschoolers. It can be harder than usual to get back into the routine after the time off. The author was at a homeschool support group and they came up with lists of homeschool pros and cons. The unanimous response was that not one of the moms would be willing to give up any of the benefits of homeschooling. Think about your lists of pros and cons and see how they compare to the ones in the blog. Mrs. Hatfield will be one of the convention bloggers in June, so look for her on the HEAV website during convention this year.

AP Courses on Transcripts

Q. If I use an Advanced Placement® (AP) text, can I call it an AP course and put it on my child’s transcript?

Outdoing One Another in Love

Just in time for Valentine’s Day. Kyndra Steinmann, of “Sticks, Stones, and Chicken Bones,” shares her family’s favorite way to practice the “Golden Rule”–for young and old alike. You can read Kyndra’s post every other week on the HEAV blog.

4) Parting Thought – Isn’t It Strange

Isn’t it strange how a 20-dollar bill seems like such a large amount when you donate it to church, but such a small amount when you go shopping?

Isn’t it strange how two hours seem so long when you’re at church, and how short they seem when you’re watching a good movie?

Isn’t it strange how difficult and boring it sometimes is to read one chapter of the Bible but how easy it is to read 100 pages of your favorite author’s latest novel?

Isn’t it strange how everyone wants front-row tickets to concerts or games but they do whatever is possible to sit at the last row in Church?
