Speaking towards the scripture, “Train up a child in the way he should go…”, Peggy digs into the Bible to show parents how to live up to this standard without losing their focus—or their minds. From the experience of being a parent and a foster parent of multiple special needs children, Peggy Ployhar has first-hand knowledge of the rigorous demands put on parents who are raising, training, and homeschooling children with special needs. Woven with personal stories, biblical truth, and lots of encouragement, this talk will truly speak to the hearts of parents who want to raise their special needs children as God has called them to do. And even though these don’t say “special needs,” she addresses many ways to make homeschooling fit your specific needs.

Executive functioning skills are defined as the “brain-based skills needed to effectively execute or perform tasks and solve problems.” As with most skills, there is a range—not everyone needs to complete the same tasks on a daily basis. But, there must be a match between the environment, expectations, and abilities of a person. This class will 1) define executive functional skills, 2) explain why they can be hard for some people, and 3) give helpful solutions to use in the homeschool to help your children build these skills.

We teach our children right from wrong, we teach our children to read and write, but we forget to teach them how to work. God gave us no choice. Come get practical strategies for teaching your children to be diligent—to get their schoolwork done, to do chores, to take initiative, and to be confident in their abilities—at all ages.
