Just getting started–or just considering homeschooling? The convention is the perfect place to find out more before you begin–to give you a picture of homeschooling life and a vision for what homeschooling means for your family.

Attend FREE How-to-Begins

Explore the wonderful world of home education at three free workshops. All three workshops are open to the public. Simply sign in upon arrival at the main Registration Lobby.

Take a Tour

We won't lie. The convention is BIG. Look for “Titus 2 Mentoring Tours” sign after the workshops. Titus 2 mentors will give you a tour of the convention center and answer your questions.

Visit the Exhibit Hall

Exhibit Hall is filled with the very best in educational materials from around the country. How-to-Begin workshop attendees get to shop in the Exhibit Hall Free on Thursday.

Bringing the Family?

First-Time Parents of Just Preschoolers

If you've never been to the HEAV convention and your eldest child is aged four or under, you can come to the entire convention--FREE! Just apply for your discount code and use it to register online.

Children's Program

In this year's "Fruit of the Spirit" theme, children (ages 5 to 10) will participate in praise and worship, create crafts, and have the chance to let out their energy by playing several active games. Special Buddies program is open for children with special needs.

Events for Kids

The convention also offers a number of optional add-ons for elementary, middle school, and high school students. Options writing, art, STEM, music, photography, chess, choir, and so much more. Check the schedule for ages and time-table.

Considering Homeschooling–or Just Started?

Join us on Thursday for three free workshops!

All three workshops are open to the public–you don’t even have to register for the convention. Just come to the Greater Richmond Convention Center and sign in upon arrival at the main Registration Lobby.

Introduction to Homeschooling

Thursday, August 27 - noon to 1 p.m.

Homeschooling is one of the fastest-growing educational options in the nation today. If you’ve wondered what homeschooling is, or who homeschools and why, this fact-filled workshop will give you answers. From the history of homeschooling to the statistical results of the most recent nationwide study, you will receive the information you need to decide if homeschooling is right for you and your family.

How to Begin: What You Really Need to Know​

Thursday, August 27 - 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Overwhelmed by friendly advice and tons of information? This informative workshop will help you weed through all the things you’ve heard and help you focus on what you really need to know for a successful homeschool year: Am I qualified? How do I prepare? Where can I go for help? What things should I never do? What are some secrets of success? And more! Don’t miss this opportunity to get off to the right start.

Know the Law: Notifying and Testing Demystified

Thursday, August 27 - 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Know your homeschooling rights–don’t let the “legalese” confuse you! In this workshop, find out who is required to attend school, what requirements you must meet to homeschool, what new test and evaluation options may be used, whom you should notify and when, what to do if you homeschool because of your sincere religious beliefs, and what types of records you need to keep. Know your options before you begin!

The Exhibit Hall opens on Thursday at 5 p.m. If you attended the free How-to-Begin-Homeschooling workshops, you are invited to come and shop in the Exhibit Hall for three hours–as our guest! 

Mentoring ToursGet Answers to your Questions

Overwhelmed by the size of the convention? Or maybe it’s your first time. Look for “Titus 2 Mentoring Tours” sign after the workshops, and meet up with our Titus 2 mentors. We’ll give you a tour of the convention center, recommend places to begin, and answer your questions about the convention and homeschooling! You can also stop by the HEAV Tables for answers to any homeschooling or convention question!

1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Tours begin outside Room E-10 and E-11 (just outside the How-to-Begin-Homeschooling and high school workshops.)

Friday and Saturday Mentoring Tours
