Kathy’s Session Topics
Saturday 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
Keynote Created To Be
As Dr. Kathy shares her story, you’ll be able to see your children’s stories more clearly. Who are they, and who are they becoming? You and your children will be inspired by Chatty Kathy’s too-tall, spelling-is-challenging, low-voice, my-foot-hurts reality—and how it’s God’s perfect design for her. Her humor is disarming, and the truths are undeniable. You are who you are supposed to be—thorns in your side and all!

Session 1 Change: Teach Them, Don’t Tell Them
Are you frustrated because your children aren’t changing in ways you want them to? Learn subtle attitudes and habits that make change difficult so you can decrease their effects. Then learn strategies, relevant Scripture, and a change process that will work!

Session 2 8 Great Smarts: All Children Are Smart-Believe It!
All children are smart, and probably smarter than they realize. Knowing they’re smart empowers them to believe in their todays and tomorrows, to expect some learning to be easy, and to study when something isn’t. The eight intelligences are relevant for our teaching and reteaching. In addition to learning, they’re also relevant to our children’s spiritual growth, behavior, relationships, and career choice. Asking “How am I smart?” instead of “Am I smart?” can change everything!

Session 4 Motivation That Works: Better than “Because I Said So”
Learn what to focus on and what beliefs to emphasize so your children will be motivated in the right direction. Learn the four roles you must play, how to compliment effectively, and how to correct and not criticize. Learn keys to effective communication, including what to do when children are frustrated. You’ll love the practical ideas!

Session 5 Five to Thrive: More Contentment, Less Stress
Your children have five legitimate needs that drive their wants, choices, actions, and attitudes. (You have the same five needs.) When God meets their needs—and you partner well with Him—your children will have less stress and depression, and more contentment and joy. You’ll be refreshed by Dr. Kathy’s practical, problem-solving approach to problems your children may be having.

Session 6 Technology’s Influence Over Beliefs and Behaviors
Could technology be the root of some of your biggest concerns about your children’s behavior? Yes! Are they complaining and arguing, self-centered, prideful, angry, and unsure what to do after graduation? You’re not alone! Dr. Kathy will help you understand the role of technology, and offer practical things to do so children mature even as they keep using technology.
