Homeschool Day Schedule
Experience 18th-century plantation life during this special student field trip just for Virginia homeschoolers!

At 9:30 a.m. or 10:30 a.m., come to the Eagles Theater, located in the Ford Orientation Center for Homeschool Day welcome and a special program.

On the Pioneer Farm, watch costumed historic trades interpreters produce 18th-century goods, learn about George Washington’s innovative farming practices, visit a reconstructed cabin for an enslaved family, play colonial games, and meet some of Mount Vernon’s animals.

Throughout the day, you may tour the Mansion, meet people from Washington’s world, participate in several ceremonies at Washington’s Tomb and at the Slave Memorial, and visit Hands-on History for additional activities.

Additional Information

Allow at least two hours for your homeschool visit. This is an outdoor event, so dress appropriately for all weather possibilities. Water bottles are welcomed on the estate, but other food and beverages are prohibited. Please view the website for dining options.
