Homeschool Day at the Virginia Zoo – 9/27/19

Join the Virginia Zoo in Norfolk for Homeschool Day on September 27, 2019!
The Virginia Zoo in Norfolk has partnered with the Home Educators Association of Virginia (HEAV) to offer homeschoolers and their families discounted admission on this day.


Bring learning to life as you encounter everything from towering Masai giraffes to tiny poison dart frogs. The Virginia Zoo is home to more than 500 furry, feathered and scaly animal friends. Navigate the Africa Savannah and the tropical jungles of in a free scavenger hunt.

 

What else can you look forward to during your visit?

  • Chat with zoo educators and zoo keepers throughout the day
  • Join us for hands on activities as you explore the outdoors in the Run Wild! Nature Discovery Zone
  • Meet the animal ambassadors at our ZooLive! stage in the Animal Wellness Campus

Date:

Friday, September 27, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Cost:

 $10/child, ages 2 to 11;
$12 student, ages 12 to 17;
$8 adult, ages 18 and up.
Infants under age 2 are free.

Registration:

Tickets can be purchased at the ticket booth on September 27.

If you don’t have a notice of intent to show homeschool status, just tell them at the booth that you are a homeschooler.

Bring your NOI–if it is from Norfolk, your admission to the zoo is FREE!

Additional Information

All programs and activities are free with admission into the zoo. 

Event details and downloadable scavenger hunts will be available on the zoo website in September.
Outside food or drinks, other than water, are not allowed inside the zoo. Details regarding on-grounds dining options can be found on the website

If you want to have a picnic lunch, consider visiting Lafayette Park, just outside the
Virginia Zoo. Located at the intersection of Granby and 35th Streets, the park features
picnic shelters and a new playground. If you leave the Zoo for your picnic, you may
re-enter on the same day by showing you admission receipt at the ticket booth.
