Ultimate Homeschool Mom Day Trip

When you hear the phrase “Ultimate Homeschool Mom Day Trip,” what do you imagine? Maybe you picture some book shopping, lunch out with mom friends, having an experience that encourages you and prepares you for the next step in your homeschool journey.

Maybe what you need is a day trip to HEAV’s Virginia Homeschool Convention! What fun it would be to jump in the car with a few of your friends and come to Richmond for the day! You can come and grab the “shopping only” pass at the door for just $39/family–and then buy the workshop recordings so you can still get most of the experience.

What will your “Ultimate Homeschool Mom Day Trip” look like?

Choose Which Day You Will Come.

Friday and Saturday at the convention are full of exciting experiences. You and your friends will have a memorable day together, whichever day you pick, as you explore the third largest state homeschool convention in the nation.

Pick Your “Must Do” List.

The Exhibit Hall is a must-see adventure for any “homeschool mom day-tripper” and it opens at 9:30 in the morning. Not only will you find curricula aplenty, often accompanied by the authors of the books–and who are delighted to answer your questions–but you’ll also find all manner of books, services, and products of interest to homeschooling families. Explore our list of exhibitors now to an idea of the amazing variety of resources that are on display in the Exhibit Hall. Feel free to come and go as your schedule allows. Remember that it closes at 8 p.m.

Inside the Exhibit Hall, many special events are happening that you’ll want to experience.

The 2019 Apprenticeship Job Fair is open only on Friday, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. If you are a soon-to-be graduate searching for a career or a parent looking to make a career change, this is an opportunity that you won’t want to miss! Representatives from a number of apprenticeship programs registered with the Virginia Department of Labor & Industry will be present to answer your questions concerning apprenticeship opportunities. The fair is open to all those who are interested, regardless of age or education.

The Exhibit Hall is also where you’ll find things like the Robotics Expo, the Chess Championships, and the Demonstration Stage, where you’ll find entertaining and informative presentations throughout the day. You’ll also find the Young Entrepreneurs area, where young homeschoolers show off their talents and business ideas, and we get to support them!

There’s so much to do inside the main Exhibit Hall, but don’t forget all the other experiences your shopping-only pass gets you. In the main hallway, you and your mom friends can explore the College and Career Fair. In the Lobby, you can enjoy music performed by homeschoolers, and if you make sure you’re there at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, you’ll get to catch the first performance of the Convention All-State Choir!

Schedule in a Lunch Break!

Have a nice lunch together on your Ultimate Homeschool Mom Day Trip! There are places right within the convention center to sit back and relax while you dine, or you can choose a lovely restaurant in the surrounding neighborhood.

Take Trip Through the Used Curriculum Sale.

A mom’s-day-out wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the Used Curriculum Sale. Held in Exhibit Hall D (all the way at the end of the main hallway), this sale is an epic experience you’ll talk about for months. Browse tens of thousands of consignment items for your homeschool and leave with awesome bargains!

Don’t Forget to Choose your Keynote!

Your shopping-only pass also allows you to enjoy one keynote session. You can narrow down your choice of days by deciding which keynote speaker you’d like to see. Once you make this choice, you can plan the rest of your day around it.

Keynote A – Friday at 9:30 a.m. Michael Farris will speak about the vision of today’s homeschoolers, the history of the homeschool movement, and where homeschooling is heading in the future.

Keynote B – Friday at 4:30 p.m.  Kirk Cameron will share “Adventures of a Hollywood Homeschool Dad.”

Keynote C – Saturday at 8:30 a.m. Jim Daly of Focus on the Family will present a talk titled “Standing in the Gap: God’s Answer to the Shortage of Leaders.” He’ll discuss what leadership is, the difficulty in finding true leaders in today’s culture, and the possibility that God might be raising up homeschoolers to stand in the gap for our nation.

Get Your MP3.

Of course, there are 140+ other workshops going on, too, and you can take home an MP3 of ALL the workshop at a special $69 on-site price. (You can save time an d money by preordering it here.)  So, take the pressure off, and get  your MP3 now!

What if your kids want to or have to come along?
