The Virginia Space Grant Consortium, in partnership with the Commonwealth of Virginia, Liberty University, Averett University, and the Virginia Department of Aviation, is providing high school students the opportunity to experience a free, two-week, intensive, residential flight academy during the summer of 2019. Students will undertake ground and flight training that can culminate in their first solo flight. Students will immerse themselves in the field of aviation and discover exciting career opportunities while learning to fly.
Students will choose their first two preferences from a selection of four sessions–May 28–June 8 (Liberty University), July 7-20 (Averett University), July 8-19 (Liberty University), and July 22-August 2 (Liberty University).
Students must be U.S. citizens, Virginia residents with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and 16 years old by the start of the academy. They must also be able to pass an FAA flight physical exam.
