For many years, HEAV has partnered with the State Fair of Virginia to sponsor a special day for homeschoolers at the State Fair of Virginia. Thanks to HEAV’s partnership, you and your family can join hundreds of fellow homeschool families to visit the State Fair on a specially designated day for homeschoolers! The the fair is held at Meadow Event Park off 1-95 Exit 98, next to Kings Dominion.

HEAV will be at the State Fair of Virginia on Friday, September 28. Get your discounted tickets now! If you can’t come on the 28th–that’s okay! You may use the tickets any other weekday through October 5.

(Admission Ticket includes all exhibits but does not include Midway rides):

  • Students (preschool-grade 12): $6.15 each*
  • Adults (all other ages): $14.39 each*
  • Children aged four and under are admitted free.

Ride Wrist Band

  • $16.45 each if purchased in advance*

*includes State Fair of Virginia processing fee


This year, you may purchase your fair tickets online and receive them directly via e-mail as a PDF attachment. Tickets may be printed off, or shown at the gate on a mobile device. Your Homeschool Day tickets are good on any weekday from September 28 through October 5.

PLEASE NOTE: You may request one (1) complimentary chaperone ticket for every eight (8) student tickets ordered. You may wish to combine ticket purchases with your support group or other families to qualify for chaperone tickets.

Arts & Crafts Competition

Did you know? Students ages 5 through 18 may enter works of art into the Arts & Crafts Competition. Entries may include painting and drawing, knitting and crochet, paper art, sewing, Lego creations, yard art, jewelry, wood-working, duct tape…and SO many other categories, there are too many to count here. Check out the division and class section of the arts & crafts guide for a complete list, deadlines, and details.
