In 2015, the latest year for which we have statistics, 59% of seniors who graduated from Virginia public and nonprofit colleges in 2015 had student loan debt, with an average of $27,717 per borrower.
In the words of convention speaker Jonathan Brush,
“If you aren’t careful, you can make decisions at 18 years of age and take on an amount of debt that will have a detrimental impact on your life for the rest of your life.”
And that’s not hyperbole. That amount of debt–which is often significantly more than the “average,” and doubled in marriage–affects your decision as to whether you can get married or not, what kind of job you can get, when you can have children, and the car you drive.
This webinar with HEAV President Anne Miller and Lumerit CDO Woody Robertson lays out the problem…and offers an antidote.
