1.2 HOPE Bookswap – Manassas – May 28

George Hellwig Memorial Park
14420 Bristow Road
Manassas, VA

Tuesday, May 28, 2013, from 9 a.m. to noon. Admission is free; bring a friend and tell others! Anyone interested may attend the bookswap. In the case of inclement weather (rain or very high winds), check the HOPE website after 9 p.m. on Monday evening for a possible cancellation message. Thursday, May 30 or Monday, June 3 have been set aside as rain dates, if needed.

HOPE sponsors this annual event to offer area homeschoolers the opportunity to buy and sell new or used books. The entire family is welcome to participate in this event, which usually draws a couple hundred people. Homeschoolers are encouraged to thoroughly review items before purchase. This is a great time to check out items you may have heard about or seen advertised.

Please review these important guidelines:

Each item should be marked with a price, using something like tape (consider including your name). No bartering will be allowed, but the seller may mark the price down at any time. Sellers are asked to bring some extra small bills and coins to make change.

The day is reserved for families to sell their books (or those of friends who cannot attend). Park rules prohibit new and used book dealers (businesses) from selling their materials. Selling other business items, including food and beverages, is likewise not permitted. These items require business permits and collection of sales taxes. Violations could keep HOPE from using the park next year.

Bring your own water or other drinks, snacks, chairs, sunscreen, blankets, folding tables, and so on. You are also invited to bring sports balls and other items suitable for field day activities.

See the website for more information, or contact Cheryl Bolt at manassasbolts@verizon.net.
