Presented by Yvonne Bunn

Yvonne is an experienced homeschool mom of five “now-adulting” children, who loves helping other parents homeschool!

With no easily accessible curriculum, no support group or co-op, and no clear understanding of the law, Yvonne began her homeschool journey soon after it became legal in Virginia. She remembers what being a first-year homeschooler feels like: the uncertainty, the “am I going to ruin my children?” voice of fear, and the all-important question—”what about socialization?”

Experience is a great asset, but Yvonne quickly learned that you don’t have to know everything in order to begin homeschooling. In fact, too much information can be debilitating! Her passion is to share what parents REALLY need to know to be successful when they first begin to homeschool.  She has a way of turning overwhelming amounts of information into a simple step-by-step workable course of action.

Yvonne is devoted to helping parents clearly understand the choices they have when they venture into the new world of parent-controlled education. With real-life, practical illustrations, she makes sure parents understand they have choices in how they comply with the law, in year-end evidence of progress requirements, in teaching methods, and in choosing curriculum.

Years of experience advocating for homeschoolers at the Virginia Department of Education, as well as her work in the General Assembly to advance homeschool laws and protect the rights of parents, have kept Yvonne on the cutting edge of the most up-to-date homeschool information and educational trends.

As HEAV’s director of homeschool support and government affairs, Yvonne shares her practical knowledge in these newly developed webinars with the purpose of encouraging thousands more parents to enter into this exciting educational adventure armed for success with what they REALLY need to know!
