HELP WANTED

Field Trip Hostess Help Wanted!

Like to be out and about, meeting new people? Enjoy hands-on learning with your children? We may have the perfect volunteer position for you!

HEAV is looking for field trip hostesses to set-up and man the HEAV table at Homeschool Day events. You would greet homeschoolers as they arrive, answer homeschool questions, and display free HEAV information. In exchange for manning the HEAV table for 3-4 hours in the morning, you and your family can visit the museum or park free of charge for the rest of the day.

If this sounds like a good fit for you and your family, contact Yvonne Bunn at support@heav.org. Please include your phone number.

4) Parting Thought – Collections of Creatures

“What do you call two crows on a telephone wire? An attempted murder!” is an internet riddle and pun based on the intriguing words for groups of critters. You’ll find more than a thousand examples of these collective nouns in a wonderful book called An Exaltation of Larks: The Ultimate Edition, by James Lipton (check your libraries or booksellers). Some of the examples include a “leap of leopards,” a “parliament of owls,” an “ostentation of peacocks,” and a “smack of jellyfish.” Stretch your vocabulary and have a great time with this one!

5) Worth Repeating  Matthew Henry

“To wait on God is to live a life of desire towards Him, delight in Him, dependence on Him, and devotedness towards Him.”

- Matthew Henry (1662-1714), British Puritan clergyman; primarily home-educated by his father, who was also a clergyman. Henry’s Bible commentary is still widely used; it is also available in a concise version. You can find it on websites or buy a copy.
