NEW THIS YEAR!

Special Buddies Program

For the first time, HEAV is offering a new program for children with moderate to severe special needs. The Special Buddies program will run concurrently with the Children’s Program and includes a Bible-based curriculum with music, crafts, and videos. The Special Buddies staff and volunteers are equipped with the heart and the training to masterfully serve the children and their families. Because of the low staff-to-student ratios, there will be a limited number of spaces, which are available on a case-by-case basis. HEAV also reserves the right to recommend other options, including the Children’s Program, if an individual does not fall within the parameters of the Special Buddies Program.

More information will be coming soon! If you’d like to be notified when applications are being accepted, please e-mail specialbuddies@heav.org.

HOMESCHOOL NEWS AND REMINDERS

Share Your Student’s Success Success is...

What has YOUR student accomplished? Many homeschoolers do well academically–and have unique achievements in other areas as well. So, HEAV is offering an opportunity to let others know about your student’s successes!

Share a summary of your student’s recognition or awards in academics as well as in extracurricular activities–robotics, debate, band, spelling or geography bees, sports, community service, political activities, work, etc. We will include it in a packet of information given to legislators during the 2014 legislative session so THEY will know that homeschoolers excel.

Complete this form, and in 75 words or less, let us know about your student’s achievements. Don’t delay! The deadline is Friday, January 17.

Become an HEAV Outreach Partner

Help us get the word out about the convention! Sign up as a church, community, MOPS group, or Internet Outreach Partner, and access specially prepared announcements, bulletin inserts, graphics, web banners, and more. Just fill out the online form, or e-mail publicity@heav.org.

Visit the promo page for logos, signatures, descriptions, and more.

ARTICLES AND INFORMATION
Article of the Week

The Gift of Everyday Moments – Deborah Wuehler

Are you going for martyrdom or Super Mom status in your day-to-day journey through homeschooling? Who is your audience? Who is getting the credit? Take time to reflect on the author’s questions and begin the year with a bit of self-examination. The challenge will get you and your family off on the right track with right motives, right goals, and a right focus–on God.

Homeschool Q&A

Transcripts and Course Location

Q. On my teen’s high school transcript, should I list the place he took some of his courses-for example, high school courses taken online or at our local co-op?

From Our Blog

Directing the Waters

Have you heard it said the quirks that drive you crazy may end up being your child’s greatest strength? Kyndra tells us how–with vision, persistence, and patience–we can help our children channel those traits in the right direction (except, maybe, for the whining).
