~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ No More Box Tops After This Collection Period Over the last three years, support groups and families have raised more than $22,000 through Box Tops for Education. However, after prayerful consideration, our board determined HEAV should not solicit financial support from a business that publicly opposes traditional marriage, so we are no longer accepting Box Tops after this final winter collection.
Winter Collection Extended Because there was so little notice and so many people have either sent in Box Tops or have told us they’ve been saving them to send in, we extended the collection period, and will accept Box Tops that are brought to our office or are postmarked by February 1, 2013. Download the submission form here.
Our heartfelt thanks goes to everyone who clipped and saved and sent in Box Tops! We appreciate your support tremendously. |

HELP WANTED Transcript Editor Volunteer Do you love editing and reveling in the details? Did you love creating your child’s high school transcript and maybe helping other moms who were unsure of what to do? If so, you may be HEAV’s new transcript editor! HEAV is looking for a volunteer willing to spend approximately one hour or two hours a week managing and editing transcript submissions. Work can be done from home, and experience is not necessary (you will be trained to use the computer program), but the following skills are essential: accurate typing, organization, attention to detail, and a familiarity with high school course titles. If interested, please contact Maureen Bittner at publications@heav.org.

~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ARTICLES & INFORMATION Article of the Week A Cheerful Giver – Natalie Klejwa In the midst of a time when giving is at the forefront, the author asks if we are truly cheerful givers. And what is cheerful anyway? Are we giving more than just material things? For example, are we generous with our time, our listening ears, our patience, and other intangibles?
Homeschool Q&A Q. I never thought I’d be asking this question, but what should I do if I want to begin homeschooling now? I know I’ve missed the deadline, so what is the process? |

~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ 4) Parting Thought – Revised History The first Christmas there were actually four kings who came from the East searching for the baby Jesus.
They were named Why, What, Where, and a fourth king, Whence. Along the way, Whence (maybe he didn’t have GPS?) took a wrong turn on his camel, got separated from the caravan, and was never seen again.
While kings Why, What, and Where who made it to Bethlehem have their own Christmas song (“We Three Kings”), the missing fourth king is also immortalized in the traditional song, “Good King Whence is Lost.”
Thought you’d want to know next time you sing carols.

“Education is useless without the Bible.” - Noah Webster (1758-1843), American educator and author of the first dictionary of American English, the American Dictionary of the English Language. His work helped to standardize American spelling. His famous Blue Back Speller became a classic in U.S. schools. Both books used frequent Bible references. ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. - Mark 10:45 (KJV) ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ 7) Homeschool Laugh of the Week |
