Downtown Washington, D.C.
Wednesday, July 11, 2012. Cost: $13.95/GeoPlunge card deck (per student or a team of three can share a deck).
GeoPlunge consists of a variety of innovative, exciting, and award-winning geography games played using a set of colorful, easy to read GeoPlunge cards.
GeoPlunge was developed to teach children about the United States in a fun way and to provide children with the motivation to learn about U.S. geography and about our country. It combines game and card strategies. Children–or even adults–learn a ton of U.S. geography just by playing GeoPlunge, but often do not realize how much they are learning because they are having so much fun playing the game.
Tournaments have received press coverage from the media. Nearly 250 children from D.C. public schools participated in the Seventh Annual D.C. GeoPlunge tournament. Homeschooled children from Bolling AFB have also participated and performed very well in the most recent GeoPlunge tournaments. Arent Fox LLC, a Washington, D.C. law firm and maker of the GeoPlunge game, would like to host a summer GeoPlunge tournament for military homeschoolers this summer.
For more information, see the website to learn about GeoPlunge, or contact Jessalyn Brach at firstname.lastname@example.org.

In order to serve a broader range of the homeschool community, participation will be limited to two students per family; additional family members will be wait-listed. A pastor shares the basics on “How to Prepare a Topical Bible Study.” While aimed at sermon preparation, the straightforward principles can be applied to homeschooling, Bible studies (personal or group), and family devotions. Consider sharing the information with a mature young adult who feels called to ministry.
The Teaching Home Magazine offers several possibilities besides the “traditional” school year. Homeschooling gives us the freedom to choose the best option for our family schedules and needs.
