- by Rick Boyer
Reviewed by Vicki Bentley, mom of 17
homeschooled

While most of us like to think that schools exist to teach children the "Three R's" over a twelve-year period, did you realize "John Holt has found that it only takes about thirty hours for a person to learn to read"...So what is the purpose of the other 11½ years of compulsory "education"?

Organizing Seminar for
Homeschoolers
Coming to Northern
Virginia!
Chantilly, Tuesday, March 31, 2009
Do you know you need to get organized, but
aren't
sure where to begin? Unsure if you even can get
organized? Join Flo Feldman, HEAV's beloved
convention director and a professional
organizer with
more than 25 years' experience. Flo has a
unique way
of dealing with the root issues of organization,
encouraging you to get started and find ways to
organize that work for you. Read more and register today!
This workshop was life-changing for us. Organizing issues we struggled with for years became clear, and we caught a vision for getting organized for more than just a day or a week. Rather than giving one "fix all" method that wouldn't really work, Flo helped us understand how to find a system that would work for us. Moms (and older girls), you don't want to miss this one! The seminar is usually held down in Richmond--this is a great opportunity for those in the Northern Virginia area! - Cris and Katherine Loop

"Every child in America who enters school at the
age of five is mentally ill, because he comes to school
with an allegiance toward our elected officials, toward
our founding fathers, toward our institutions, toward
the preservation of this form of government that we
have. Patriotism, nationalism, and sovereignty, all that
proves that children are sick because a truly well
individual is one who has rejected all of those things,
and is truly the international child of the future."
- Dr. Chester Pierce, Harvard University professor of
education and a humanist, addressing the
Association for Childhood Education International in
April, 1972; also quoted in Educating For The New
World Order, 1973.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye
transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may
prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect,
will of God.
