5) Worth Repeating
Webster's 1828 Dictionary, written by Noah Webster, a devout Christian, defines "educate" as, "To bring up, as a child; to instruct; to inform and enlighten the understanding; to instill into the mind principles of arts, science, morals, religion and behavior. To educate children well is one of the most important duties of parents and guardians."

In contrast John Stuart Mill, a Humanist ironically opposing public education at the time, stated, "A general State education is a mere contrivance for moulding people to be exactly like one another . . . [I]t establishes a despotism over the mind."

[Editor's Note: In the next few months we will feature quotes revealing the Humanist thinking and agenda behind today's secular education.]
