Q: What does a “family-friendly” price include?
A: With the purchase of a full, three-day convention ticket, your spouse and dependent children (unmarried, living in the home) will receive FREE, three-day admission to all workshops, UCS, and Exhibit Hall Shopping, as well as tickets to a Duggar keynote session! Enjoy one low price for the entire family!
A: No. HEAV wants to encourage moms and dads to attend the convention together, but we don’t want an extra admission cost to stand in the way. A family ticket is not available for any person other than a legal spouse and dependent children. You may not bring a friend, relative, fiancee, etc., on a family ticket.
A: The answer depends on your child. Children of any age are welcome in the Exhibit Hall, UCS, and workshops*. However, if your child is uninterested in the workshop topic or finds it difficult to sit through a speaker presentation, he or she may be happier in the Children’s Program. Our children’s program and activities are created to be appropriate for children ages 5-12 and requires an additional fee.
*Please note that many of the workshops are being recorded. Parents of younger children are encouraged to sit near an exit, and they must slip out quietly if the baby or child becomes noisy. (This includes happy sounds as well as those of distress.)
A: No, however you will need to sign in on site. Please come to the registration area in the Exhibit Hall building lobby where you will be able to sign up beginning at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 6.
A: We do not offer registration for individual workshops. As many as 14 workshops run concurrently during each session. We recommend getting to the workshop of your choice several minutes early in order to get a seat-OR volunteer as a host/hostess in that workshop to guarantee a seat!
A: Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. You may attend a different workshop where seating is still available. Most workshops are being recorded, so you can order a CD or MP3 of the workshops you missed as well as the workshops you would like to hear again.
A: Yes, please register! HEAV Lifetime Members and their dependent children (including unmarried young adults currently in their household) are entitled to FREE full convention admission*. You can find out more about becoming a Lifetime Member here.
* The Children’s Program registration fees still apply for Lifetime Member families.
A: Yes. All volunteers must be registered to attend the convention. Remember, with the new family pricing your dependent children are included in your registration fee! BOTH youth volunteers AND their parents must be registered for the convention.
A: No, there are no admission discounts, however, volunteers are given the best selection of materials at the Used Curriculum Sale! Those who volunteer at least two hours at the HEAV Convention are granted early admission to the UCS from 9 to 10 a.m. on Friday morning.
Q: How can I get into the Used Curriculum Sale early?
A: The UCS will open for preregistered attendees starting Friday at 10 a.m. Admittance time will be assigned based on the date of your preregistration. Attendees who register at the door, parents of preschoolers, and non-homeschooling grandparents who attend for free cannot enter the sale until 3 p.m.
A: Don’t have time to stay for the entire convention? Purchase a ‘Shopping-Only’ pass which includes all shopping in the Exhibit Hall and the Used Curriculum Sale–plus one free workshop of your choice*! Shop as a family and enjoy one low price!
*excludes Duggar keynote sessions
A: Free Shopping is open on Saturday, June 8, from 3 to 6 p.m. ONLY. No registration or fees are required; however you will be asked to sign in at the Exhibit Hall. The Used Curriculum Sale will be closed by that time and is not included as part of free shopping.
A: All refund requests must be submitted no later than May 30, 2013. No refunds are available after this date. A cancellation fee of $7 will be deducted from your refund amount. No refunds or adjustments will be made at the convention. There are no exceptions to this policy. If you need to request a refund, contact the office by phone (805-278-9200) or e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org).
A: Absolutely! After May 20 you may register at the door. Come to the lobby of the Exhibit Hall Building at the Richmond Convention Center. See below for on-site registration fees.
