INFORMATION COLLECTION AND USE
We are committed to respecting your on-line privacy. We recognize your need to protect and manage any personal information you share with us. We have established this Privacy Policy to help you understand the concern we have for your personal information.

Information Collection
Home Educators Association of Virginia is the sole owner of the information collected on www.heav.org. Home Educators Association of Virginia collects information from our users at several different points on our website.

Information Use
We track site traffic and usage and create reports based on the server's log files. The reports DO NOT contain information about particular individuals or personal information of any kind. Some of the things we track include the number of visitors to a page, downloaded documents, time and length of visit, browser and referrer of the visitor, most-visited pages, and most-used paths through the sites.

We note which registered users have logged into our customer center. This information may be used to determine the potential interests of such users.

Children's Privacy
Because we do not collect any personally identifiable information from children, our site is fully compliant with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA").

Cookies
Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information while on our site. We use both session ID cookies and persistent cookies. For the session ID cookie, once users close the browser, the cookie simply terminates. A persistent cookie is a small text file stored on the user's hard drive for an extended period of time. Persistent cookies can be removed by following Internet browser help file directions.

Log Files
Like most standard website servers, we use log files. This includes Internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track user's movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses, etc., are not linked to personally identifiable information.

COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE SITE
Mailing List
If a user wishes to subscribe to our mailing list, we ask for contact information such as name and e-mail address. While we cannot prevent users from signing up other individuals to receive the newsletter, out of respect for our users' privacy, we provide a way to opt-out of these communications. Legal Disclaimer
Though we make every effort to preserve user privacy, we may need to disclose personal information when required by law wherein we have a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a current judicial proceeding, a court order, or other legal process served on our website.

Choice/Opt-out
Users who no longer wish to receive our e-mails may opt-out of receiving these communications by clicking on the "Click here to unsubscribe" link that appears in each e-mail.
