With an uncertain economy and rising gas prices, more and more families are seeking ways to cut back on costs. This June 6 and 7, the Home Educators Association of Virginia's 25th Annual Convention will be offering a Financial Literacy & Economics Track to give concerned families a chance to learn about financial management and living on a shoestring budget while still living comfortably.
The track will kick off Friday, June 6, at 10:30 a.m. with "Managing Your Household Finances the Economizer Way" by New York Times best-selling authors and 21-year homeschool veterans, the Economides. The Economides paid off their first house in nine years on an average income of $35,000, feed their family of seven on $350 a month, take fabulous vacations, and more! They have appeared on Good Morning America, 20/20, NPR, and BBC Radio, as well as in Good Housekeeping, Budget Living, and Real Simple magazines.
Barry Hardy, speaker and team leader for Dave Ramsey's Customer Care Center, will also be offering several workshops, sharing the nuts and bolts of Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace Plan (www.daveramsey.com). Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University (FPU), nationally syndicated radio show, and best-selling books have helped hundreds of thousands take control of their finances.
The Economides and Barry Hardy will be joined by Greg Rehmke and Jane Bullivant to make for an information-packed track that will show families how to stretch their grocery dollars, plan for college, understand economics, teach their children about money, and much more. Says HEAV president Anne Miller, "This track offers practical suggestions to help families take control of their finances and cope with rising prices."
