All across the nation, families are managing to live off one income in order to educate their children in the home. How do they do it? In the Financial Literacy & Economics Track at the 25th Annual HEAV Convention and Educational Fair this June 5-7, families considering homeschooling, but unsure how to live off one income, can learn how to stretch their money from the Economides, a homeschool family that has managed to pay off their first house in nine years on an average income of $35,000, feed their family of seven on $350 a month, take fabulous vacations, and more. Workshops from Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University will also help families get out of debt and make a financial plan that WORKS!
The track begins on Friday, June 6, at 10:30 a.m. with "Managing Your Household Finances the Economizer Way" by New York Times best-selling authors, Steve and Annette Economides. As 21-year homeschool veterans, the Economides well understand what it takes to live on a single income. Now, they're helping families nationwide by sharing the techniques they've used. They have appeared on Good Morning America, 20/20, NPR, and BBC Radio, as well as in Good Housekeeping, Budget Living, and Real Simple magazines, and have been called "America's Cheapest Family," "The First Family of Frugal," and "The Thriftiest Family in the U.S."
The Financial Literacy Track includes three workshops by the Economides and seven workshops by other speakers. Sessions cover everything from getting out of debt to the economic view of finances to everyday practical tips for saving money, and much more.
"There are lots of parents who would love to homeschool their children, but struggle with the loss of that second income-especially in today's economy. This year's Financial Literacy Track will give them the know-how and the tools to make their wishes a reality," says Anne Miller, HEAV president and homeschool mom of eight.
