From teaching with babies and toddlers to preparing teens for college, you can find out what methods are most successful. We bring in the best and most successful homeschooling parents and educators to share their experiences with you.

Plus Richmond Regional’s Activities Meeting!
The Richmond Regional Home Educators yearly Activities
Meeting will be held directly after the seminar, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. This
is an open house for homeschool families across the Richmond area and 11
surrounding counties. Come with your friends and browse the tables
for information about clubs, classes, sports, and events your children may
want participate in during the school year.
High School at Home: Yes, You Can Do It!

Teaching high school at home can seem like a daunting task. Parents wonder what subjects they should teach; how they can do labs or teach higher math; what kind of records they should keep; and whether their students will be able to get into college. At the same time, teens are concerned about sports, extracurricular activities, prom, and their friends. Yes, there are plenty of valid questions.
In this seminar Yvonne Bunn, director of homeschool support for Home Educators Association of Virginia, will help you find the answers! After teaching three teens through high school and preparing them to go off to college, she will share the benefits and challenges of homeschooling during the high school years.

This informative workshop will help new homeschoolers get off to the
right start by answering many common questions: Am I qualified? How do
I prepare? Where can I go for help? How do I teach more than one child?
What things should I never do? What are some secrets of success? And

The Law,
Evaluation, and Testing
Don't let the legalese confuse you! Find out what requirements you
must meet in order to homeschool, what tests or evaluations you may use, whom
you should notify and when, and what to do if you are homeschooling because of
your sincere religious beliefs. Download handout.
How to Choose
Curriculum
Get a brief overview of six different teaching methods—from the classical
approach to relaxed homeschooling. Hear lots of practical suggestions for

Homeschool Resource Center
When you come to a seminar at the office, be sure to come early or stay
after the sessions to visit our
Homeschool Resource Center. The HEAV Homeschool Resource Center is a
one-stop visit for home-education needs, and will include a variety of
the best homeschool resources and curricula available for purchase.
While you’re at the Homeschool Resource Center, you may also schedule a
free curriculum counseling session with an experienced homeschool
teacher/counselor for answers to your specific questions.
