5 Great Attractions, 1 Fantastic Day!

Tuesday, May 20, 2008, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. FREE!

Come join fellow homeschoolers at Fort Lee (Petersburg/Central Virginia vicinity) for an interactive day at five attractions cosponsored by HEAV! View outdoor mini-museums put on by the City of Petersburg Museum and the Petersburg Battlefield. Participate in special programs at the battlefield, and pick up driving maps to explore more on your own! Tour the U.S. Army Women's Museum and the U.S. Army Quartermaster Museum. Stop by the Fort Lee Archaeology site--they'll have ongoing programs throughout the day. Bring a lunch and enjoy the picnic area.

The U.S. Army Women's Museum and the U.S. Army Quartermaster Museum will also be offering two hands-on programs with artifacts and archival materials. The programs will run from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Registration for these programs will start at 9 a.m. and is on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration is only required for these programs; there is no registration required for any of the other events or activities of the day--just come and enjoy!

Please note that anyone 16 or older will need a picture ID to access the Army Post, and you will need to show your vehicle insurance card and registration. Parking is free and adjacent to the museum sites. There is a picnic area available.
