2.1 Homeschool Expo – Stephens City – June 3

Saturday, June 3, 2017, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Cost: This is a free event, open to the public. RSVPs are welcome in order to help with preparations, but not required. Homeschool groups and businesses that wish to reserve a vendor space and students who wish to display projects must register prior to the event.

The Winchester Area Homeschool Association is organizing an information fair for current and prospective homeschoolers. Over 30 participating organizations will help connect families with local opportunities for their students. A student showcase area will allow attendees to get a glimpse of how students follow their interests through the lens of home education, and a special guest will speak about homeschooling and competitive team sports.

2.2 Thread Art Summer Camp – Purcellville – June 26-30

Joshua’s Hands
201 N. Maple Avenue
Purcellville, Virginia

Monday, June 26, through Friday, June 30, 2017, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 pm. Cost: $120/student. Cost includes all craft supplies. Lunch not provided; campers should bring a bag lunch. This camp is for students ages 10 and older.

Students will learn new hand skills by creating projects that work with colored threads and cords, including hand embroidery and sewing, creating braids and tapes, macrame, and bead weaving.

To register for the camp, contact Kelli Arrington at kyarrington@comcast.net. Include student age, name, and a phone contact. Camp fees are payable to the instructor by cash or check on the first day of class. Class sizes are limited, so early registration is recommended.

2.3 Food Network Kids Baking Championship Casting – Ongoing

Food Network is currently casting children ages 8 to 13 years old for Season 4 of Kids Baking Championship, a fun show in which kid bakers compete in a series of baking challenges for the chance to win a cash prize.
