2.1 President Madison Birthday Celebration – King George – March 5 (Registration Deadline for Special Events Is March 1)

Saturday, March 5, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tea with Dolley Madison from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.  Cost: Birthday celebration is $15/adult; children under 18 years attend free. Tea with Dolley Madison: $25/person. Advance registration for the tea is required by March 1, 2017.

This Living History Experience at Belle Grove Plantation features President and Mrs. Madison as well as Colonel James Monroe, who will meet with the public and discuss their experiences as founding fathers and mothers of the new nation.

Mrs. Madison will break from the discussion for afternoon tea with her guests. She’ll tell about her time in the White House, and how she escaped with her life and the portrait of George Washington during the War of 1812 when the British burned the White House.

In the afternoon, students will meet President and Mrs. Madison and read the winning essays written for the King George American Legion James and Dolley Madison Essay Contest.

3.2 Threshold Youth & Young Adult Conference – Fredericksburg – April 1

Saturday, April 1, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Cost: This is a free event for youth and young adults ages 14 to 25 years. Lunch and dinner will be provided.

Threshold 2017 is a one-day conference designed to inspire young people with teachings by Daniel Ryan Day about merging their faith with the complexities of living in today’s world. The conference will include practical life breakout sessions and an evening of dynamic worship, praise, and personal prayer ministry. It will provide an opportunity to ask questions about the next steps in life, combining faith in Christ with practical life lessons.
