The Gem, Lapidary, and Mineral Society, Inc., of Montgomery County, Maryland, is sponsoring its 50th Annual Jewelry, Gem, Mineral, and Fossil Show. More than 20 dealers will showcase treasures from all over the world. Additionally, see more than 40 exhibits, demonstrations, free workshops, and fluorescent minerals. Children will get free specimens, have fun exploring the Mini Mine, and learn at the Cub Scout teaching area. Don’t miss the door prizes!

Monday, August 11 through Friday, August 15, 2014. Early Bird Cost: $235 (paid in full by April 4); $245/camper (paid in full by June 27); $70 deposit due with application. Ask about installment payments and potential scholarships. Kids ages 9 through 13 may attend as campers; teens ages 14 and up must apply to the Newport News Office as a Teen Counselor; adult volunteer positions are full at this time. Contact the office with any questions or concerns. The price includes lodging, meals, T-shirt, transportation, and evening programs. Registration deadline is 5 p.m., Friday, June 27. Register early – spaces fill up quickly!
Join the Newport News 4-H Program for a week-long summer camp at Jamestown 4-H Educational Center! The week will be packed with hands-on learning activities, as well as archery, air rifle training, Lego robotics, swimming, fishing, and much more.
