Saturday, March 8, through Sunday, March 16, 2014, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cost: $12/person; $5/craft activity for theme tours. Children age three and under are free. Included in the cost are unlimited general admission to each of the two facilities during the homeschool special, the opportunity to pre-register for optional student hands-on classroom programs or a family guided tour of the museums’ outdoor living-history areas. Register by 5 p.m. three days before the scheduled program or tour in which you are interested (during the regular homeschool portion of the program).

Homeschool families can enjoy history lessons at Jamestown Settlement, a museum of 17th-century Virginia, and the Yorktown Victory Center, a museum of the American Revolution, with special admission and hands-on programs and family tours available March 8 through 16.

Ninety-minute, family theme tours with classroom activities–“Coats of Arms” at Jamestown and “Uniforms, Art, and War” at the Yorktown–are available for an additional fee.

Based on space availability, students can enroll in one of four programs at each museum, according to grade level from preschool through twelfth grade. See the website for program descriptions and details.

Also included is admission to Jamestown Settlement’s annual “Military Through the Ages” (MTA) on March 15 and 16, featuring hundreds of re-enactors depicting centuries of military history. Download the registration form at the Facebook link and bring it with you, along with payment in full.

Generation Joshua’s InNOVAtors of Freedom Civics Club hosts the iObject (“I object”) Grand Jury Indictment program. iObject, a professionally moderated program, puts participants on the front lines of the judicial system, allowing them to actually see the evidence that is used to bring people to trial, and understand the difficulties that face a system of justice. Students immerse themselves in a 1930’s Chicago mafia case as a Grand Juror, exploring constitutional rights and privileges in the justice system.

You may also check out Generation Joshua’s two teen programs at the convention in June!
