2.1 Keeping Up with Common Core

Truth in American Education (TAE) is a national, non-partisan group of concerned parents and citizens. They have a free newsletter with frequent articles on all things Common Core (CC). CC matters to students in all forms of education, including homeschooling. The more states that accept and implement CC, the more likely the government will think of imposing CC on all students, no matter where they are being educated. See the second link for a distinctively homeschool take on the Home School Legal Defense Association’s page about Common Core.

2.2 Article – The Benefits of Reciprocal Museum, Garden, and Zoo Memberships

Many families take advantage of reciprocal admission benefits from participating facilities; you buy membership in one museum, zoo, or aquarium and get free admission in others. Sometimes grandparents are able to make a family gift of the privileges for Christmas or birthdays. Read the article to learn the ins and outs of such memberships. Be sure to compare memberships available to you (review such information on their websites) to learn exactly how each one would affect the cost of seeing the places you frequent most. If unsure, call before buying.
