History is Fun for Homeschool Students
Location: Jamestown Settlement, 2110 Jamestown Road, Williamsburg; and the Yorktown Victory Center, 200 Water Street, Yorktown, Virginia. Get directions here.
Dates September 7-22, 2013.
Cost: $11.00 per family member (youth or adult) before August 23. On or after August 23, tickets are $12.00. Ages 3 and under are free.
Registration: Online registration is available here. If you do not have online access, tickets can also be purchased by calling Group Reservations at (757) 253-4939, or in person at the Visitor Services desk at either museum.
Description: At Jamestown Settlement and the Yorktown Victory Center, you will love discovering the sights and sounds of the 17th and 18th centuries while learning about our nation’s history. Visit re-creations of a Powhatan Indian village and James Fort, discover the details of life at Jamestown, and enjoy colonial games. At Yorktown, you can visit the re-created Continental Army encampment and 1780s farm and learn the details of colonial life. Age-appropriate programs are available at each location. Based on availability and advance reservations, registration includes
- One hands-on classroom program at each museum, according to grade level
- One two-hour, family guided tour at each museum.
Hands-on classroom programs and tours must be booked by calling reservations at (757) 253-4939. Call early to reserve your spot.
The preregistration deadline for hands-on programs and guided tours is 5 p.m., three business days prior to the program or tour.
Theme tours are available for an additional $5 activity fee per person
All programs address Virginia and United States standards of learning for history and social studies.
