Experience firsthand what it is like to have a learning disability. Find out how it feels to be unable to read the words on a page, or how frustrating it is to have information in your brain, but not be able to put it down on paper. The live learning differences simulations will feature multiple stations that will allow teachers, other professionals, and parents to experience what it is like to learn differently. This simulation is designed to increase awareness of the difficulties and frustrations that people with dyslexia encounter daily with reading, writing, and spelling.
These simulations can go a long way to helping one understand the emotional experience people with learning disabilities go through and just how hard they have to fight to succeed. However, in the right environment, dyslexic children can acquire the tools that they need to be successful.
To register or ask questions, please contact Livia McCoy at email@example.com or 804-266-2494.
Deadline for nominations is March 15, 2013. Nominate a young volunteer, ages 6 through 18, who has made a difference in your community. Top winners will each receive a $10,000 scholarship for higher education. See the website for all the details.
