Convention Positions Available

Want to get into the thick of things? We have a few key positions open for convention coordinators. Check them out to see if there is something that will fit your skills and talent!

Facility and Rentals Coordinator

Now why did they put that table THERE? Have you ever wandered through the Convention Center and wondered how each table–or chair, sign, trashcan, or kiosk–gets placed correctly? Here’s a chance to find out! HEAV is looking for a person to be responsible for gathering information and creating a detailed design of the floor layout for this year’s convention. (But don’t worry–it does not include the Exhibit Hall!)

As facility and rentals coordinator, you would communicate with each convention coordinator to determine their needs, and then work closely with the convention director to get quotes from appropriate vendors and prepare a detailed floor plan of the entire convention area, except the Exhibit Hall. Onsite during the convention, you would serve as a liaison, verifying delivery and installation of the rental equipment and synchronizing dismantling efforts when the convention closes.

A small stipend is provided for this position. If interested, contact Lauren Bell at for more information.

Keynote Coordinator

Do you have experience with stage production, design, setup, and scheduling? Do you love the challenge of creating a “Wow” effect with almost no budget? If so, HEAV could use your help as a keynote coordinator! Working closely with the convention director, you would prepare keynote schedules and direct the details and staging of each session, both before and during the convention. Good organization and communication skills essential, as is spiritual maturity and a desire to serve. Hours will vary, but the work can be done mainly from home, except for the actual convention. A small stipend is provided. If interested, please contact Lauren Bell at

Are you an accomplished homeschooled musician in need of an audience? Come play for us at the 2013 Virginia Homeschool Convention! We are looking for instrumentalists, both soloists and ensembles, to play background music at the convention in June. This is a volunteer position and you must be a homeschooled student or graduate. If interested, please submit

  1. A short recorded sample of your music,
  2. A list of repertoire and instruments used, and
  3. Description of your musical and homeschooling background.

Contact to submit them via e-mail, or request a mailing address to send a CD.
