1.1 Free Lessons: The Persecuted Church – VOM Open Classroom – Ongoing
1.2 Washington, D.C. with Carolina Homeschoolers – Washington, D.C. – Register by January 20
1.3 Free Knowledge House Thanksgiving PDF
The Voice of the Martyrs Open Classroom has free classes on persecution; you will need to register. The group’s founder, the late Richard Wurmbrand, repeatedly warned the church in the West of coming persecution and urged–begged–the Church to prepare ourselves and our children for it. If you do not know his story, Voice of the Martyrs will send a free copy of his biography, Tortured for Christ (second link). While we do not yet face the level of persecution he did, we may sometimes feel as if we do–and many predict persecution will get worse, including homeschoolers. The classes also prepare students (high school and up–parents can decide) to effectively minister to and advocate for the persecuted worldwide. Open Classroom means that they are free-access, self-enrolled, and self-paced personal studies.
The registration deadline is January 20, 2013. The trip is in April 2013. The estimated cost for a “typical” family of four is around $1,360. Please see the website for all the details.
The group plans to tour the various memorials and monuments, the White House, Arlington Cemetery, the U.S. Capitol, the Pentagon, Ford’s Theater, and more. They also plan to participate in the forensics lab at the Crime Museum, and have time to visit a choice of other museums such as the Air and Space, Natural History, American History, Holocaust, American Indian, and others.
