      We have been HSLDA members since we began homeschooling 16 years ago. While homeschooling is much more excepted now, we still find comfort in knowing that we have lawyers ready and willing to protect us, our children and our right to homeschool.
      Thank you both to HSLDA and HEAV for all they do and have done to make homeschooling in VA and the US legal and acceptable.

    It’s important to support groups like HSLDA (even if you don’t think you may need them in your situation) because each case they take on and win here in the U.S. and in Europe, strengthen our rights as parents to choose what we feel is best for our children. Our right to homeschool is constantly under attack. It is imperative that we equip ourselves and others to remain vigilant.

    i am an army wife and a believer. those are the two reasons i home school my 2 children. i would love to have a year membership just for the peace of mind. i would know that i have one more thing with someone else on my side for when hubby has to deploy and i am left to hold down the fort and do my best to keep things running smoothly. but as an army wife who home schools, things are tight and the money just isn’t there tight now to buy one for us right now.thanks for considering me

    When reading a pamphlet from HSLDA about religious exemption, I knew our family needed to join when I read that our county’s school board was involved in a case against parents in which HSLDA played a pivotal role to protect liberty and freedom in homeschooling! We have not yet begun our journey into homeschooling; however, we have had ample contact with several current school board members and know the HSDLA will bring a degree of comfort to our experience.

    We are a new homeschooling family (this will be our second year), and last year we got a letter back from the county asking for course descriptions when we sent in our letter of intent to homeschool. Our daughter was only in Kindergarten! I complied but found it unsettling that we ran into trouble so early in our homeschooling experience. I think it’s time to join the HSLDA…

    JOIN! It is so worth it! You will take care of your own family, and bless others, as well. We have been members for approx. 25 years now…I love the recent payment option. That September payment was so difficult for our family, but we made the sacrifice to have the covering. As a military family living overseas, across the country in a hostile state, with constant uncertainties about where we would be sent next, it was worth it to us to have the peace of mind HSLDA offered. We even needed their help when stationed in northern Japan! A middle of the night call from Japan to VA (a great expense, back then) led Mike Farris to call the base commander to explain the laws, and caused him to relent in his “you must enroll your children in one week” decision. Every year, HSLDA adds more vital services for families, continuing their coverage and help for people in need, and has ministered nationally and world-wide to many homeschoolers. WE LOVE HSLDA! Support them! They give much for the small cost of membership!

     Homeschooling is an idea that some people cannot grasp or even imagine. Having the security of knowing that if there was a legal situation that I personally couldn’t handle, I would have backup is comforting. My family is new to the homeschool world so before receiving a newsletter I was not aware these services were available. Even if we are not chosen for the giveaway, this is absolutely a must have for every homeschool family, including my own.

     We have been HSLDA members for years and have been so VERY thankful. Every time we face a move, I call for details about the states we may be moving to, and someone is always available to guide us through the new rules and regs. I have gladly gone without textbooks in order to afford this membership. It is worth every penny and then some. That said, it would be fabulous to win the free membership – then I could buy the textbooks!

     HSLDA has helped us twice with getting our children enrolled at the local community college. We are thankful we have never had any emergencies or major difficulties with authorities and have appreciated knowing HSLDA has been available to so many other families with much larger needs (including internationally).
