Earn It, Learn It: Teach Your Child the Value of Money, Work, and Time Well Spent, by Alisa T. Weinstein, earned the 2012 Excellence in Financial Literacy Education (EIFLE) Children’s Book of the Year Award.
This research-based program allows students from pre-K through grade 6 to “earn” money as “real” professionals—think chefs, investigators, contractors, and disc jockeys—then experience how to manage that money. Why does this matter? Students learn that the reward of work can be the work itself!
The Earn My Keep Allowance Program puts financial lessons into context, increasing understanding and retention of critical life skills beyond financial literacy, including self-efficacy and stewardship. The program can be followed as defined or manipulated to suit personal goals, and it works for any size group—individual students, small groups, and even the largest co-ops.
A busy wife and mom of two children, Weinstein is a regular commentator on PBS’s Nightly Business Report. Her financial literacy work has been praised by The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Forbes, Publisher’s Weekly (starred review), Yahoo! Finance, and more.
Be sure to leave a valid email so the company can notify you if you win! Winners will be chosen Friday, May 18, 2012. Don’t miss Earn My Keep at this year’s convention!
